7th/8th Social Studies & Reading

Mike Schmeeckle
Jr. High Teacher

My name is Mike Schmeeckle and I teach junior high social studies, language arts, and I conduct the junior high/high school choir.  Part of my teaching career at Weldon Valley includes coaching the varsity baseball team and the junior high football team.  I am also the National Honor Society sponsor.

Morgan County has been my lifelong home.  I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Colorado and my Masters in Education from Colorado State University-Global.  Prior to teaching, I was a long-term care administrator serving the disabled and elderly population in Northeastern Colorado.  My wife and I own a property rental company, and I am a partner in the family farm located in New Raymer, Colorado.

I love teaching at Weldon Valley.  Feel free to contact me with any questions about our classes.  I have a classroom website that contains instructional material.  My website is: https://schmeeckle.weebly.com     This site contains the weekly spelling list, history links, and my classroom rubrics.

The week of November 6th will be a test week.  7th World History will have a test on Greek History on Monday.  Thursday will be a test on the Revolution for the 8th grade US History class.  7th language arts will have the normal spelling test on Wednesday as well as a test on the stories from our ELA book on Tuesday.  The reading classes will continue to read The Old Man and The Sea (7th grade) and The Last of The Mohicans (8th grade).  We may finish The Old Man and The Sea, so prepare for a test on Thursday.

Our library day will be Tuesday, make sure you bring your books.  7th World History will begin a unit on Ancient India.  My choir class will continue to practice and prepare for our winter concert.  Good luck to the volleyball team at the regional tournament.

Senior class: The $100 deposit will be due on Thursday for the senior trip to Phoenix.  Secure your spot for the senior trip.  The senior class supper will be December 7th.  The class will be serving pulled pork.  Tickets will be distributed for sale next week.
