Congratulations to our junior high students that participated at the regional National History Day competition at UNC on 3-8-24. It was another successful event as Weldon Valley students competed against schools from all of NE Colorado. In the junior division papers it was a clean sweep for our students as they earned 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place. Congratulations to Thea who is the regional champion! Thea, Seyda, and Todd will be representing our school at the state National History Day in late April. This year for the first time we also had a contestant in the Website category and Becky was the second place winner. Becky will also be representing our school at state in the Website division. Congratulations to all of our students!

Wiggins asked if we could move the game the week to Wednesday due to the fact that they are playing in the state basketball tournament on Thursday. The games will now be played on Wednesday at 3:00 and 5:00 in Wiggins. They bus will leave at 1:30 on Wednesday. Thanks
Nine sophomores attended CTE Day at MCC last Wednesday. The students toured the campus and visited with staff about classes offered at MCC. They learn about careers in the following areas, Auto Service, Auto Collision, Business, Education, Electrical, Health Care Careers, Multimedia, and Radiology. CTE classes prepare students for their future careers. Many CTE programs offer industry-recognized certifications.

Your 2024 Science Fair Participants! Congratulations to Josh Wells & Zander Braun who will attend State & Nationals! Also, to our 6th Graders who received many awards. And to Peighton Arndt who qualified for State in the junior division. I might add we had one heck of a cheering section!!
Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up March 7th! Please plan on penciling us in your calendar between 4-8pm! Making time to stop by has such a positive impact on your student's education and reminds them we are all a team working together for their success!
These will be a quick check-in, so please minimize your visits to 10 minutes with each teacher! We also ask teachers to take their last conference at 7:45 to ensure we can wrap things up by 8pm! - If you feel you need more time to discuss things with your student's teachers, we are always willing to make arrangements for additional time to meet! The FFA Coloring and Literary entries are hanging in the cafeteria. Come and check them out during the FFA Hired Hand Event on Thursday night 2/29th, dinner starting at 6 pm and Auction at 7 pm. Tickets are sold at the door, $15 adults and $10 for youth.

The FFA Chapter held 8th Grade Orientation to the Ag program on Thursday the 22nd. After a short presentation, the 8th graders competed against each other in two areas: 1. creative wood project and 2. quiz over Ag careers.
Just a reminder that Spring sports will start on Monday, Feb. 28th. Baseball will meet on the field at 4:00 and track will meet in the lobby by the secondary entrance. If you have not played a sport yet this year, make sure that you turn in your physical paperwork and pay all fees with Mrs. Dunn before practice on Monday.
