Due to the anticipated weather today, we will not be sending the JH football players to Fort Morgan. We will practice at the school. Bus students will be able to ride the bus home today. Non bus riders will need to be picked up at the school at normal pick up time. Thanks for your understanding
John A. Gotto, former Weldon Valley Superintendent, has passed away. John served as Weldon Valley Superintendent from 1999-2005. John’s educational leadership was paramount in the transformation of Weldon Valley School’s aging infrastructure into the modern facility students and staff enjoy today. John oversaw the 2004 construction of the current Weldon Valley Junior/Senior High addition partially funded by a capital construction grant that he authored. The school library located in the Junior/Senior addition is named in his honor.
John was an educational leader that earned respect from the entire school community. His firm and common sense approach was a change maker in the overall improvement of the attitude of students, staff, parents and community members of Weldon Valley.
John was always eager to foster a teaching moment with students and staff when that moment arose. His mentorship was a blessing to all who served with him. John’s legacy at Weldon Valley RE-20J will live on in memories and a wonderful facility that he spearheaded.
Congratulations to Josh Wells and Zander Braun for making it on the list as National Finalists for the FFA Agriscience Contest. They will compete at the national level this next month and be recognized at the National FFA Convention in October! Way to go!!

This the start of a new two year cycle, so locations and opponents will have changed from last year. This is an odd year with the way the calendar falls, so everything is a week later than last year, for example, the state volleyball tournament is a week later than it was last season.
Fall Sports practices begin on Monday, August 12th. Just a reminder that all athletes, Junior High and High School must have a current sports physical. ProActive will be at registration on August 5th offering physicals for $40. We hope everyone is having a great summer and excited for the start of a new year!
Last month five FFA members assisted the MCREA with serving food during their Annual Member Picnic. Weldon Valley FFA members worked with the Wiggins FFA to ensure the REA members had a speedy serving line.
