The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment along with Governor Polis have placed Morgan County under the blue section of the COVID dial. This means that masks for students are optional during school except for instances when teachers require masks in their classroom for medical reasons. Teachers will still be required to wear masks or face shields when in the hallway and where social distancing is not possible. In addition, we will be able to increase our attendance at home athletic events. The dial will be updated every week. Thank you for cooperating and understanding. We have been fortunate to remain in-person learning for most of the school year and we feel it is important that we do what is necessary to remain that way.

Hello Warrior Family- Next week we will begin the 21 Days of Kindness Challenge. Each day students will be reminded of a way they can show kindness. I will be posting a Kindness Calendar that shares their kindness goal for the day. Students will also be decorating our school Kindness Tree. Students can add hearts to the kindness tree by doing random acts of kindness at school and at home. Students will write down these random acts and bring them back to Mrs. Chisum. The class with the most R.A.K. hearts will win a special prize! Students will get these hearts Monday! We are so excited to begin our Kindness Challenge! Have a great weekend Warriors! Mrs. Chisum

HEY PARENTS! Help your kiddos make a giant heart to hang in our hallways to fill the school with love! You can use cardboard, paper, or anything you have in mind! Please be sure it can “hang” up somehow, and don’t forget to make them big and beautiful! You can add a wonderful quote of kindness or encouraging words to them, such as: “YOU ARE LOVED” – “YOU CAN DO GREAT THINGS” – “THAT SMILE LOOKS GREAT ON YOU!” If you need help with cardboard, Miss Donna has a ton and would love to share! Just let us know! Let’s fill the halls of The Valley with KINDNESS and LOVE!

Hello Warrior Fans, We are thankful that high school basketball is now in full swing for our high school athletes. It is important that our students have the opportunity to participate and compete. Currently, we are allowed two spectators per player at all North Central League games. Because of our gym size, the number of home spectators are limited in comparison to other NCL schools which have larger gyms. Those schools are allowed to accommodate 50 spectators for home and 25 for visitors. If you are unable to attend a game, most schools, including Weldon Valley, will offer the game on the internet. We have been streaming our games here at Weldon Valley on our Weldon Valley Facebook page with success. At all NCL basketball games, home and away, we will be following state and local health department, CHSAA and North Central League requirements. Those requirements include numbers of spectators allowed and other virus protection protocols. Masks will be required for all players and spectators. Again, we are fortunate that our athletes are able to perform during these trying times and we don’t want to put that privilege in jeopardy. Obviously, very few of us would prefer to wear a mask to a basketball game but in order to do our part in accommodating athletes and athletic events, we must follow the requirements. Please support our athletes by correctly wearing a mask at the games. If you prefer not to wear a mask, please do not enter the gym. And, as stated earlier, most of the games will be streamed on the internet. On behalf of our students, athletes, coaches and staff we appreciate your support! GO WARRIORS!! Bob Petterson

Information for high school basketball games at Wiggins on Saturday, January 30th. The Girls game begins at 2 pm, with the boys to follow at approximately 3:45. Fans can enter the game 10 minutes before the game, not earlier. You MUST be on the gate list to enter the gym. Please wear masks while inside the school. We are allowed 50 fans per team for the game. If you are not on the list, you will not be allowed in the gym. We are limiting this to family of the athletes at this time. We will be livestreaming the games on our athletics Facebook page as well. All fans must leave the gym between games so that they can sanitize. You will be allowed back in 10 minutes before the boys game. Visiting fans will sit in the same bleachers, opposite of the score table and benches. I have included a document that Wiggins shared with us. Please read through the document so you know what to expect on Saturday. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1g9F3XaXRn9Kap-BXnIj0v6g9ArYHi-uCGXitoJRFWSo/edit?usp=sharing Please email me at gedson@weldonvalley.org if you have any questions or concerns.
